Poor oral hygiene can lead to inflammation and bleeding gums (gingivitis). If left untreated, they can affect the tissues that surround and support the teeth and, over time, cause them to begin to wobble.

The origin of gingivitis is the formation of a bacterial film that coats teeth that have not been brushed for at least a week. This plaque hardens (tartar) and causes inflammation and bleeding gums. In addition to brushing your teeth at least 2 times a day, it is important to visit your dentist if you need to do a destartarization (dental cleaning).

One of the most common treatments in dentistry is professional dental cleaning, also known as destartarization. It is based on removing tartar with an ultrasonic tip and subsequent polishing of the surface of the teeth.

Likewise, it is important to brush your teeth and tongue at least 2 times a day, for at least 2 minutes and then complement it with the use of dental floss to remove food debris between the teeth. Finally, the use of mouthwashes is recommended, ideally with an irrigator.

If you notice mobility in any of your teeth, it means that inflammation of the tissues surrounding your teeth has occurred. You should go to your dentist to assess the origin of this mobility and guide the best possible treatment. It could be periodontal disease.

The tooth must always be preserved, leaving as a last resort its extraction and subsequent placement of the implant. At Clínica Rizo & Mendonça we will always bet on the most conservative treatment possible, that is, treating your natural tooth to preserve it for as long as possible. We recommend that you go to the dentist at least 2 times a year.
